The Jamaica Brocks

After several years of research I have written my book!

This is a personal account of my research into the story of James Brock from Denny, a village near Falkirk, who went to Jamaica in the early 19th century seeking opportunity and fortune. He became a plantation owner and enslaver and had several children with a mixed-race Jamaican woman. After his death his family went to Scotland and made a life there. The book traces James Brock’s short life in Jamaica and explores the circumstances of his family as they settle into their new lives in Scotland.
